NOAA Marine and Aviation Operations operate the 224′ x 43′ Gordon Gunter. It’s homeport is in Pascagoula, MS and operated primarily in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean and Carribean Sea. The ship conducts scientific surveys of the health and abundance of fishery resources and marine mammals.
The work scope consisted of blasting and coating six double bottom tanks, completely blasting and coating the hull and weather decks. A new hatch was installed for the 01 deck storeroom. the A-Frame had the pivot pins and hinges refurbished as well as a complete structure blast and coat. Propellers were removed, new lube oil piping was installed for the port shaft and new inner and outer seals installed. Several sections of HVAC ductwork were renewed. The sewage overboard discharge lines were also renewed.
